The First U.S. Naval Beach Battalion
Reunion 2004
Orlando, Florida
May 6 -- May 9, 2004
The 51st (?) reunion of our 1st US Naval Beach Battalion has passed and
once again the Jester family made us all feel welcome and honored. Several
planned events went smoothly and there was ample time to sit, visit, catch up
with each other and share stories. Photographs and mementos were shared and the
cribbage board got a heck of a workout. Thanks to all for the hard work and
planning that went into this year's reunion.
Excellent accommodations were to be had at The Rosen Center Hotel on
International Drive.
The hospitality room on the 11th floor was well and properly used with plenty of
food and libations. Anyone walking by would have no trouble sensing the
enjoyment inside.
The bus trips to the Cape Canaveral museums and the ECC battlefield
simulation labs were enjoyable as was the lunch at the Patrick Air Force Base
NCO Club.
We all missed Edwin and Dorothy Roberts who missed their first reunion in 20
years due to illness suffered by Dorothy. Dorothy sent a wonderfully kind letter
wishing us all well and more importantly, reporting that she had recovered, but
not in time to make the reunion. We missed you both, and look forward to seeing
you in 2005.
Dave Jester announced some very tentative plans for next year's reunion,
suggesting a riverboat cruise on the Mississippi might be a nice venue. As plans
develop, we'll post them here on the website.
Once again, "THANK YOU" to the Jesters and their entire family. I hope
you realize the memories you are making not only for the honored guests, but for
their families as well.
We've put some photos here. If
anyone has any other photos or comments they can share with us, please drop us a
line. We would love to incorporate them into the website. |
